Music Recognition Application (MRA)
Last updated: 16.06.2026
MRA is developed and operated by Emircan Gezer (Jadquir), an individual developer based in Türkiye. This policy explains what data MRA collects, why, and how it is handled.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
MRA stores your recognition history, liked songs, settings, and other app data locally on your computer — not on our servers. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the Cloud Backup feature.
When you identify a song, MRA sends a temporary audio fingerprint to Shazam (Apple) for identification. The audio is never stored anywhere. MRA's song identification feature depends entirely on Shazam (Apple), a third-party service outside of our control. Shazam may change or revoke access to their service at any time, which could result in MRA's identification features being degraded or unavailable.
After each identification, MRA sends the following to our servers:
This data — song identifiers and a success/fail result — is used solely for aggregate analytics and the public Top Tracks feature. We do not store a record of which songs you have searched for, and your recognition history is never sent to our servers unless you explicitly enable Cloud Backup (see §6).
If you do not have an account, this data is anonymous and cannot be linked to you.
If you do have an account, a hash of your account identifier may be included for deduplication only and is not used for profiling or advertising.
Music Discovery features (Similar Tracks, Recommendations, and Vibez) process your liked songs and listening history entirely locally on your device. No music discovery data is sent to our servers.
AI Song Detection: When you use the AI Song Detection feature, MRA sends a brief audio preview of the identified song to SH Labs for authenticity analysis. The audio preview is not stored by us. MRA tracks your daily usage of this feature on our own servers (associated with your anonymous client identifier) solely to enforce the per-day usage limit. This usage count is not linked to the content you analysed.
MRA sends anonymous usage events to our own analytics backend (hosted on Google Cloud). Each event includes:
Events we track include:
We do not use this data to identify you personally or share it with advertisers.
MRA also uses Supabase to track usage of limited functions to enforce per-user limits. This stores a usage count associated with your client identifier, not the content of what you searched for.
Creating an account is optional. If you sign up, we collect only your email address, used for authentication. Authentication is handled by Firebase (Google). Your password is managed by Firebase and never stored directly by us.
Some features are only available when signed in.
If you subscribe, payments are processed by Polar.sh. We do not see or store your payment details. Polar.sh receives your email and a user ID to manage your subscription.
MRA has two distinct backup mechanisms for Supporters:
All cloud backup data contains song metadata only — no audio or personal information.
MRA uses the following external services to provide its features. In all cases, only the minimum necessary data is shared.
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Shazam (Apple) | Song identification and metadata | Temporary audio fingerprint, song IDs |
| iTunes (Apple) | Song and album metadata lookup | Apple Music ID, search terms |
| MusicBrainz | Music metadata enrichment | ISRC codes, artist/title search terms |
| Deezer | Streaming link resolution | ISRC, artist name, title |
| MusicLink (Jadquir) | Cross-platform streaming links — operated by the same developer as MRA | Song identifiers |
| LrcLib | Synced and unsynced lyrics | Artist name, track name |
| Supabase | Top Tracks feature; usage tracking for limited functions | Anonymous song identifiers, usage counts |
| SH Labs | AI song authenticity detection | Brief audio preview of the identified song |
| Firebase (Google) | Authentication and cloud backup storage | Email (if you have an account), cloud backup data (only if you explicitly enable Cloud Backup) |
| Polar.sh | Payment processing | Email, user ID |
| Google Cloud (our backend) | App analytics, supporter features, API hosting | Anonymous client ID, song identifiers, event data |
Data storage locations: Firebase (Google) stores data on servers primarily located in the United States. Supabase stores data on servers in the European Union. Polar.sh processes payments on servers in the United States and European Union. Our backend infrastructure runs on Google Cloud.
IP addresses: When your app or browser communicates with our servers or third-party services, your IP address is visible to those servers as part of standard internet communication. We do not log or store IP addresses beyond what cloud infrastructure retains by default.
MRA is developed by an individual based in Türkiye. In addition to GDPR where applicable, processing of personal data is subject to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK). The rights and obligations described in this section apply to both EU and Turkish data protection law unless otherwise noted.
If you are located in the European Union, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
The MRA website uses cookies (primarily for authentication), Google Analytics, and Vercel Analytics for anonymous usage and performance monitoring. The Windows app does not use these.
MRA is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). By using MRA, you confirm that you meet these age requirements. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
